Griffonage Studios is pleased to present an exhibit of digital photography entitled Landscape by local artist, Joseph Labate.

 

Joseph Labate is an Assistant Professor and the Chair of the Photography Division in the School of Art at the University of Arizona.

 

Artwork included in the exhibit treads the boundary between traditional photography and new technology while at the same time examining the landscape of Labate’s life.

 

Labate is a recipient of a Visual Arts Fellowship from the Arizona Commission on the Arts, an Artist’s Grant from the Contemporary Forum of the Phoenix Art Museum, and an Artist’s Grant from Polaroid of Tokyo, Japan.  He has exhibited and taught photography nationally and internationally.  His work is in many private and public collections including the Center for Creative Photography, the Tucson Museum of Art, the SnellWilmer Collection, the Streitch Lang Collection, the Weeks Gallery and Roussenski Lom National Park in Bulgaria.

 

A reception for the artist will be held on Saturday February 2, 2008 from 7:00 to 9:00 pm. The event is free and open to the public.

 

The exhibit will run from February 2 to 29, 2008.
